Ralph Soto and Chris Panatier

Soto and Panatier

Soto, inspired by Revolutionists like Mondrian and Pollock, illustrates his vision using unconventional and industrial material, keeping his work linear and textural. He invites us to understand the painting’s structure through its scratched and cracked surfaces and lucent sheets of color.

Panatier’s quiet oil paintings allow one to intimately engage in private moments that project a certain vulnerability of the female form. By completely exposing his brush lines, obscuring the woman’s facial expression, or leaving her isolated on the canvas surrounded by flat shapes or unfinished spaces, he alludes to the beauty of painting itself.
